Club Rules

In order to maintain the quality of our waters and ensure that all members have a positive, safe and rewarding fishing trip we ask members to abide by the rules set below which are in the best interest of the club and its members. By taking out membership of the club you agree to abide by these rules.


(Please note that each water may have its own rules regarding the number of rods used, bait limits and other water specific regulations. Please check the corresponding waters page on the website or within your membership book)

Club Rules

  • Night fishing is prohibited at all venues.
  • Young anglers up to the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult who is to accept responsibility for the angler.
  • One rod is to be used unless otherwise stated.
  • Do not take away any fish except Trout over 10 inch and Pike under 7lb. No fish are to be left on the bank.
  • Anglers are not to fish the location of a match on the day of the match. Only once the match has finished are anglers able to fish the venue.
  • Anglers must not construct unofficial platforms or carry out any unauthorised work to any of the venues.
  • Do not commit wilful damage to fences, crops or banks during your fishing trip.
  • Anglers must not be in possession of illegal items,
  • Fires are prohibited.
  • No swimming, bathing or boating for your own safety.
  • Alcohol is not to be consumed at: Flanshaw Dam and Walkers Dam.
  • Litter is to be disposed off in bins provided. If no bin is to be found or easily accessible all litter must stored appropriately and disposed off at the first opportunity. If your peg is littered come weigh in time you may be disqualified from the match.
  • All anglers must be in possession of a landing net which is to be used to safely bank the fish opposed to any other method such as swinging fish in.
  • All anglers must be in possession of a piece of equipment such as a disgorger in order to be able to safely unhook deep hooked fish.

Keepnet Rules

  • Keepnets are prohibited from the following venues:
  • Flanshaw Dam, Newmillerdam, Healy Dam, Kettlethorpe Hall, Walkers Dam  and Lofthouse Pond.
  • Keepnets may be used at the above venues in conjunction with an official club match.
  • Carp are not to be kept in keepnets except in official club matches.
  • When returning your catch to the water please ensure care is taken to prevent unnecessary harm to the fish. Please guide them up to the top of the net while the net is submerged in the water to prevent the fish from being tumbled to the top. 

Bait Restrictions

  • Groundbait is prohibited from use at the following venues with the exception of a reasonable amount used with swim feeders and pole cups:
  • Flanshaw Dam, Healy Dam, Kettlethorpe Hall, Walkers Dam and Lofthouse  Pond.
  • Trout pellets, peanuts and floating baits including dog and cat meat are not to be used at the following venues: Flanshaw Dam, Kettlethorpe Hall, Walkers Dam and Lofthouse Pond.
By taking out membership of this club you abide to the above rules.
